The Center City Commission, City of Memphis and Memphis Regional Chamber have launched a comprehensive new program to increase African-American and women’s participation in city-wide real estate development, with over 100 in the inaugural class.
The program, called the Diversity Development Incubator, covers the gamut of real estate development. Participants learn industry basics, deal-making, law and financing, incentives and regulatory issues, design and construction, and RFP preparation. Graduates compete for no-cost land parcels donated by the City, and a mentorship program with prominent local developers is in the works.
